The name of this massive fortification is Castillo de San Felipe del Morro. Built by the Spanish in the 16th and 17th centuries, it is the oldest of two great forts that anchored the sea and landward defenses of San Juan.

The distance to the watch tower to the wall corner illustrates the width of stone wall. The Spanish fort's construction took place in the 16th and 17th centuries.

Karen is standing among the many cannons that once defended El Morro from pirates and rival imperial powers.
